Biography

Richard K. Huston, 92, East Moline, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Services will be noon Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church, 3801 7th St., East Moline. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born Oct. 31, 1917, in Orion, to George and Clara Danielson Huston. He married Margaret Ella Farrell on Nov. 14, 1947, in East Moline.

He served in the merchant marines during World War II.

He retired from International Harvester, East Moline in 1980, after 33 years. He was a member of East Moline Legion No. 227 and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret, East Moline; son, Dennis (Marcia) Huston, East Moline; four grandchildren, Eric VanValkenburg, Broomfield, Colo., Krista (Jay) Rockeman, Broomfield, Beverly (Daniel) Armstrong, Hampton, Marlena (Nicholas) Urbain, Eldridge; five great-grandchildren, with a sixth one due in May. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra VanValkenburg.
