Life Legacy


Tillie J. Fuhrer, 90, of East Moline, passed into heaven Jan. 25, 2010.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at First Baptist Church, East Moline, where she was a member. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.

Tillie was born Nov. 5, 1919, in O'Neill, Neb., one of nine children of V.N. and Ivay Carlson Smith. She married Raymond Fuhrer on Aug. 8, 1936, in Onida, S.D. He passed away April 27, 1991.

Tillie was a 50-year-plus member of EOS Colona Lodge. She was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband and grandchildren, working outside, mowing the grass, cutting weeds and keeping her house spotless. She also enjoyed cooking and her cats, dogs and birds. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a great mother and grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Bob (Carol) Fuhrer, Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Don Fuhrer, East Moline; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronland Smith, Sioux Falls, S.D., Martha Burkianshaw, Gold Canyon, Ariz., Vie Hanson, Carter, S.D., Ivan Smith, Winner, S.D., and Bill Smith, Portland, Ore. Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters.
