BiographyNancy A. Slavish, 64, of Colona, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. with services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Schroder Mortuary, Colona. Burial will be at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Memorials may be made to Gilda's Club Quad Cities where she was very active. Nancy was born in Rock Island on Feb. 18, 1945, the daughter of Mildred and Oliver Reed. She was a graduate of Winola Senior High School in Viola. She married Donald Slavish in 1960, and they were long-term residents of Colona. She was employed by Prudential Insurance for 30 years and was the office manager for the district office in Moline. Nancy was known for her "let's go" attitude, her big smile, her great sense of humor, her wit, her love of singing and her love of shoes. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and traveling. She was dearly loved by her surviving son, Randy; her sisters, Lorenda Stoner, Viola, and Grace Hardie, Oakland, Calif.; her 15 nieces and nephews; her many cousins and great-cousins; and her many very close family and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her son, Alan; her parents, Mildred and Oliver; and her two brothers, Richard and Gary. The family greatly appreciated the loving care provided to Nancy by Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf. Funeral Service
