Biography

Ramona Shaffer, 79, of Silvis, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline.

Services will be noon Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.

Ramona was born July 23, 1931, in East Moline, the daughter of Grover and Minnie Dannewitz Hott. She graduated from United Township High School in 1950. Ramona married William Shaffer on March 14, 1952, in Moline. He passed away July 15, 1994.

Ramona was a florist at the former Hott Brothers Florist, which later became Coleman's Florist in East Moline. She was a member of Four Square Tabernacle Church in East Moline, the Nifty Fifty Club, the Silvis Senior Citizens and was very active in organizing Class of 1950 reunions. She enjoyed making Christmas ornaments and loved collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia. Ramona also loved sending cards to her friends and family for all the special occasions in their lives and she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Sue Mullins, Cocoa, Fla., Ric (Lynn) Shaffer, Erie, Rosie Yates (Lee Weimer), East Moline, and Deb (Jerry) Fisher, East Moline; grandchildren Lori, Kelly, Jamie, Sherry, Joe, David and Jerry; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; grandchildren, Gerald Fisher, Heather Yates and Jennifer Fisher; and Tinker Bell, her dog.
