Beatrice Boyd

April 18, 1929 — May 5, 2011

Beatrice J. Boyd, 82, of East Moline, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, Milan. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Beatrice Jane Nice was born on April 18, 1929, in Rock Island. She began attending Edgewood Baptist Church at the age of two weeks, when it was located in the old Lions Building in Rock Island. She was a member there for years and passed on a Christian heritage that has already touched three generations. She was gifted in music and won a scholarship to Augustana College. She married John Lindsay and was blessed with a daughter who lived to be 7 years old. Bea was her primary care giver. She was later blessed with a set of twin girls and a son. She later married Edward Boyd on March 30, 1963, in Mason City, Iowa. Together they were blessed with a set of twin girls and miscarried a third set of twins.

She dreamed most of her life about being a missionary. Bea has touched the lives of many people and is still loved by all. She could easily be described as the life of the party, and her wit was never ending. She dearly loved playing on her computer and emailing with friends. However, she never did understand how to cut and paste. She was very proud of her late husband's service in the Navy as well as all her kids. In her later years, she became a member of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church located in Milan. She dearly loved her church and all those attending she considered special friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for missions through Faith Fellowship Baptist Church.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy; father, Arnold Nice; mother, Adeline Nice; as well as her beloved husband and best friend, Edward Boyd, whom she never stopped missing. Survivors include son, Arnold (Becky) Lindsay, Missouri; daughters, Merilee Lindsay, Florida, Melodee (Sherry) Benner, Rock Island, Mindy (David) Overstreet, East Moline, and Missy Lazareck, New York. Survivors also include 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whom are still counting.
