Bernhard Johnson

Bernhard E. Johnson, 79, of Erie, died on July 25, 2015 at his home. Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. He was born on July 13, 1936, in Geneseo, son of Vernon and Edna Gehn Johnson. He married Violet Badtke on Oct. 2, 1968, in East Moline. Bernhard worked for the Rock Island Lines as an engineer for 26 years. He also worked as a welder and paint leader for International Harvester and the Rock Island Arsenal. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Violet; children, Rebecca (David) Duax, Moline, Rebecca (David) Tuttle, Riverside, Iowa, Elizabeth (Jack) Driskell, Daytona Beach, Fla., David (Valerie) Johnson, East Moline, and Jeff Johnson, Erie; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Odeena Horvath, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents.
