Bobby Williams

Bobby G. Williams, 86, of East Moline, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at his son's home.

A memorial service for Bobby and his late wife, Alice, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Student Health Link, Silvis.

He was born Sept. 8, 1925, in Chickasha, Okla., to Joe M. Sr. and Ama Gann Williams. Bobby received a bachelor's degree from St. Ambrose University in 1952, and a master's from the University of Iowa in 1969.

He married Alice Y. Campbell May 13, 1946, in Yuma, Ariz. She passed away May 6, 2006.

Bobby served in the Army Air Corps as a corporal during World War II. He worked as a supervisor in personnel management at the Rock Island Arsenal.

He was a member of the Rock Island Jr. Chamber of Commerce, the Quad City Development Group for Graduate Study, and was a member of the governing board of the Q.C. Graduate Center. He was also a Boy Scout and Explorer leader.

Survivors include his son, Ronald (Shirley) Williams, East Moline; grandchildren, Brian (Erica) Williams, East Moline, Nicolle (Brad) Elwell, Chillicothe, Ill., Melissa Williams (Mark Roach), LeClaire, Jean (Jason) Wardlow, Coal Valley, Erik (Natalie) Malvik, Springfield, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Reese and Kallie Williams and Ethan and Ella Wardlow; siblings, Joe (Joanie) Williams, Rock Island, Gerald Williams, East Moline, Jacqueline (Lawrence) Kistner, Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
