Moline

Bonita L. “Bonnie” Nickell, 86, of Moline peacefully passed away Friday, June 27, 2025 at her home. She will be resting at peace with her furry best friend Mattie.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Bonnie was born July 8, 1938 in Rock Island, IL the daughter of Creston L. and Joyce Scheuermann Inloes. In 1956 she worked in the school office during the day and was a telephone surveyor in the evening. From 1957-1969 she worked at Service Rubber, making rubber boots and tennis shoes, in Rock Island. In 1969 she worked at Lenox Photo Lab developing and printing black and white film. She also worked in the meat department at Giefman’s grocery stores in Rock Island, Moline, and Davenport. In 1973 she became a United States Postal Carrier in Moline retiring in 1998 after 25 years. On her lunch break during her mail route, Whitey’s would have her order ready when they saw her pull up, double fudge boston malt. After retirement she worked at Quad City Airport as checkpoint security.

Bonnie enjoyed making special cards for every occasion. If you received a card from her, it was from the heart. She enjoyed her yard and mowing with her John Deere tractor, this was her happy place. She also enjoyed her red Chevy truck with the American flag on the side; it was her pride and joy. She could throw a party, and hosted her annual weenie roast, where all friends and family were invited. Most of all, Bonnie loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren.

Survivors include her favorite daughter Donna Nickell; granddaughter Marla (Bryan) Zabel; 2 great grandchildren, and lifelong friend Ellen DeMink.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Albert Blancke.

The family would like to thank Unity Point Hospice for all of their help and support.
