Chadwick B. Hillyer

June 8, 1968 — January 24, 2024

Aledo

Chadwick B. Hillyer, 55, of Aledo passed away January 24, 2024.

Chad was born June 8, 1968 in Moline, IL. Chad was the son of Michael Hillyer and step-mother Linda Hillyer and Donna (Ronk) Ericson. He married wife Kammie (Hanson) in 1995.

The same year he married Kammie, Chad started his own business. For 25 years, his business served multiple notable businesses across the Quad Cities; notably, he worked with the City of Rock Island on community rejuvenation, where he aided in the restoration of some of the known Victorian-style homes. He was known for his precision, attention to detail, and high-quality of his workmanship, which translated to his artistry in other forms. When he attended Iowa State University, his drawing was published in an architecture magazine.

Chad enjoyed being outdoors, doing things like camping; being physically active, including family workouts at the YMCA; and supporting his children in all their athletic and personal endeavors. He would happily take on any room decorating Taelar would request, including building beds and shelving, and take on any BMX work Reid and Ryan needed, always making sure to ride along. Life talks with the kids over bedtime snack cereal or countless rounds of Boggle with Kammie were also points of enjoyment. He was most proud of the accomplishments of Taelar and Reid and of his newer title of "Bampa" to his grandson, Soren.

Survivors include his wife Kammie; daughter Taelar; sons Reid and Ryan; grandson Soren; sisters Tammy and Diana; step-mother Linda; and brother Jason.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to members of the immediate family, to support the costs associated with cremation so Kammie and their children can grieve without the additional burden of financial stress, or to the American Cancer Society because of Chad's leukemia diagnosis (2018) and the loss of Chad's father to cancer.
