Cleland “Billy” Armstrong, 91, of Colona passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, December 29, 2025 at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 1-3pm Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Cleland was born February 18, 1934 in Eldridge, Alabama the son of James and Elsie (Tucker) Armstrong. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Cleland married Sarah “Faye” White June 23, 1956 in Fulton, Mississippi. She passed away June 10, 2003. He retired from Alcoa with over 30 years of service. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Colona. He was also a member of the Banjoleers and Homeward Bound bands. He loved music and meeting his friends monthly to play marbles and board games. Cleland especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter Jan (Mark) Johnson of Colona; son in law Frank Nizamis of Glen Allen, AL; grandchildren Scott (Sandy) Tucker of Eldridge, AL, Chad (Gabby) Tucker of Eldridge, AL, Kayla (Deion) Nizamis of Tuscumbia, AL, Teresa (David) Johnson of Colona, and Nicole (Joe) Johnson of Moline; great grandchildren Logan Goodwin, James Johnson, Sophie Tucker, Tripp Tucker, Demi Nizamis, and Natalie Tucker and several nieces and nephews.
Cleland was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Patty Nizamis, granddaughter Tami Johnson, and brothers Clois (Opal) Armstrong and Clovis (Brenda) Armstrong.
