Donald R. Pearson

Donald R. Pearson, 78, of Colona passed away Sunday, November 1, 2026 at Veteran Affairs Hospital in Iowa City.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and private inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City.

Donald was born October 25, 1948 in Wingo, KY the son of George and Katie Tarkington Pearson. Donald served in the Army during the Vietnam war. He worked for Operating Engineers Local 150 as a mechanic. Donald was a member of the Thornton American Legion Post 1070 and was a Boy Scout Leader of Troup 322 in Thornton, IL. He enjoyed fishing, reading, going to the casino, cooking, camping and being outdoors.

Survivors include his children Carrie Pearson and Joseph Pearson; siblings Barbara Newton, Tommy Pearson, and Shirley Umporowicz and sister-in-law June Pearson. Several nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jimmy.
