Donald E. Ruhl Jr.

Donald E. Ruhl, Jr., 62, of New Windsor, IL passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026 at his home.

A celebration of life will be 1-4pm Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Fraternal Order of Eagles #1839 in Carbon Cliff. A memorial visitation will be 11-12pm Monday, May 18, 2026 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis followed by inurnment at Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Veteran Affairs.

Donald was born February 19, 1964 in Moline, IL the son of Donald E. Ruhl Sr, and Sharon G. Esparza. He married Laurie McFarland, with whom he had a son David, November 10, 1993 in Rock Island. They later divorced on December 5, 1994 in Rock Island. Don graduated from United Township High School in East Moline in June of 1982. He served in the United States Marine Corps from December 14, 1982 to December 13, 1986 with tours in Okinawa, Korea, Honduras, Panama, and the Philippines before receiving an honorable discharge.

Don was employed with Uniflyte, Inc in Orion, IL for over 24 years, Riverstone Group in Rock Island for approximately 5 years before retiring due to health issues. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie for 38 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and collecting guns, knives, and antiques of all kinds.

Survivors include his son David of New Windsor; sister Dianna Ruhl of Silvis; brothers and sister-in-law Edward Ruhl of Silvis, Terry Ruhl of Colona, and Brian (Stephanie) Ruhl of Davenport; several aunts, an uncle, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents.
