Edward C. Hayes

Edward C. Hayes, 79, of Colona passed away Monday, July 20, 2026 at MercyOne Illini Campus in Silvis.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.

Edward was born April 20, 1947 in Moline, IL the son of James and Ethel Lindle Hayes. He graduated from UTHS in East Moline and served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. Edward and Sharon Kay Utter were married August 31, 1968, at St. John’s Lutheran church. He worked at John Deere Harvester from 1974-2006, retiring with over 30 years of service. He was a Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan and an avid Illini football and basketball fan.

Survivors include his wife Sharon; children Bradley E. (Teri) Hayes, Colona, Brian C. (Michelle) Hayes, Geneseo, and Kelly Hayes, Davenport; grandchildren Kevin Lawrence, Alexander Hayes, Christopher Hayes, Joshua Hayes, Emily Hayes, and Jacob Hayes; brother Jim (Stephanie Herrera) Hayes and sister Joyce (Steve) Servison.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents and his son Kevin.
