Eugene Waldo

Eugene "Gene" Waldo, 72, of Colona passed away Thursday - October 20, 2011 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10am at St. Patricks Catholic Church, Colona, where he was a member. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Gene was born June 7, 1939 in Peoria, IL the son of Robert and Helen Maubach Waldo. He married Diane Thompson, April 20, 1963 in Odell, IL. He served in the Army. Gene was a contracting officer for the Rock Island Arsenal from 1962-1986. After his retirement he was self-employed as a private consultant. He was a pilot, loved car shows, game shows, and classical music. Survivors include his wife Diane; children Robert (Lisa) Waldo of California, Jeffrey (Jodi) Waldo of Geneseo, and Catherine Waldo of Rock Island; grandchildren Amanda Waldo, Luke Waldo, Austin Waldo, and Alex Parr; sister Judy Moroz of East Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents.
