Evelyn Kitchen

Evelyn M. Kitchen, 98, of Champaign, IL formerly of Silvis passed away April 19, 2019 at her home in Champaign.

Funeral services will be 1pm Friday, April 26, 2019 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ, Moline, IL, St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Champaign, IL or Circle of Friends Adult Day Care, Champaign, IL.

Evelyn was born February 9, 1921 in Martinsville, IL the daughter of Philip “Henry” and Mable Mary Cline Huffman. She married Jerry E. Kitchen June 22, 1941 in Rock Island. He passed away February 29, 1988. Evelyn was a member of American Sewing Guild. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading.

Survivors include her children J. Norman Kitchen of Cedar Falls, IA and LiAnne M. Kitchen of Champaign, IL; grandchildren Daniel L. Kitchen of Takoma Park, IL, Benjamin M. Sterrett of Barrow, AK, and J. Maurine Sterrett of Champaign, IL.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Norma Huffman Montgomery and brother Lowell Huffman.
