Gary Payne

Gary Lee Payne, 67, of Rock Island, passed away Jan. 16, 2015, at his home. A memorial visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family. Gary was born Dec. 10, 1947, in Moline, the son of Ernest and Dorothy Bobb Payne. He served in the Army and later worked as an attendant at several gas stations in the area. He enjoyed fishing and the gambling boats and also had quite the green thumb. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy; son, Kevin Payne; grandchildren, Aiden and Brevin Payne and Ashlyn Mata; siblings, Judy Smith, Connie Payne, Lisa (Shawn) Moseng and Jonna (Brian) Dailey; several nieces and nephews; extended family in Tennessee; and his dog, Nelson. Gary was preceded in death by his father; sister, Betty Daniels; and stepdaughter, Mandi Mata.
