George "The Barber" Bockhouse, 69, of Carbon Cliff, died Dec. 27, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. Visitation will be noon until 4:30 p.m. with a short funeral service at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. In lieu of flowers, a fund will be established to help support youth athletics in the area. George was born June 9, 1943, in Moline, the son of George and Naomi Bockhouse. He attended Silvis Schools and graduated from United Township High School. He owned and operated George's Barber Shop in Silvis and would have celebrated his 50th year in January 2013. He married Karen Duncan in 1974. She died in October 1992. In 1999, he married Donna Clenney on the 9th Green at the Isle Dauphin Golf Course in Dauphin Island, Ala. He loved all the good times they spent with friends and golfing buddies. He left us doing what he loved best, dancing. George was well liked and highly respected by all. He was a member of the Eagles Club since he was 18 years old and loved to play shuffleboard. He was a Bears and Illini fan, and especially a Cubs fan waiting for that next World Series win, well maybe next year dear! He loved all his grandchildren, but had a special bond with Logan. He loved sitting at home with Logan and watching basketball games together. He also loved watching and cheering at Logan's school basketball games. He was very proud of him. He will be so missed by all who knew and loved him. I know he would like to send a special hug and thank you to Jon and Carol for all the love and help they have given us. And a special hug to his biggest CUB fan Dean Stone. Those that are left to honor his memory are his wife, Donna; his children, Mike (Tonya) Clenney, Chris (Jennifer) Duncan, Scott (Antoinette) Clenney and Tyann (Mike) Caudill; a sister-in-law, Janet Martin; grandchildren, Jack, Brianne, Logan, Austin, Jeremy, Brittany (Chad), Michelle, Heidi, Matthew, Ryan and Andrew; great-grandchildren, CJ, Kaylee, Ethan, Hayden, Christopher and Matt Jr.; also his granddog, Kane. George was preceded in death by his mother; father; Mike and Lisa. Donna and family would like to thank all who came by the hospital with their love and support and also her family for all their love and support while George was in the hospital and to Tyann for being there every night with me. George would have been very proud of all of you. Also would like to thank Elmer for his time with George at the shop. A special thank you to Ernie for all his friendship and loyalty through the years. It gave George peace of mind knowing that the shop was well watched over. We would like to also thank all of George's loyal customers that came through the doors over the past years and in the future.
