Gerald C. Douglas, 75, of Colona, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
Gerald was born May 2, 1938, in Geneseo, the son of Elbert and Cassie Goembel Douglas. He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1956, and enlisted in the Army Reserve, serving 11 years. Jerry worked for the Rock Island Lines for 10 years. He retired from John Deere Plow Planter in 1992, after 25 years.
Jerry married Marie Stottler on June 1, 1958, just celebrating 55 years of wedded bliss. Survivors include sons, Aaron (Shirley), Colona, Carl (Collette), Geneseo, Harold (Tara), Agawam, Mass.; daughters, Teresa Thomas, Colona, and Lanette (Dave) VanDerHeyden, Rock Island; four granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Bell, Geneseo, Pearl Young, Geneseo, and Darlene Frye, East Moline.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
