Gladys N. Avery, 99, of Colona passed away December 16, 2016 at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis.
Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 4-6pm Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Estates in Moline. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Gladys was born May 12, 1917 in Wapallo County, IA the daughter of Lawrence and Pansy Kielkopt Wilford. She married Charles Clifford Avery April 22, 1939 in Ottumwa, IA. He passed away February 26, 1991. Gladys retired from the Rock Island Lines in 1977 after 33 A½ years of service. She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Senior Citizens Lunch program in Colona.
Survivors include her son Donald (Betty) Schwartz of East Moline; grandson Donald (Patti) Schwartz of Carroll Stream, IL; great grandson William (Kelley) Schwartz of Palatine, IL and a brother Claude (June) Ramsey of East Moline.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Dana Schwartz and 6 brothers and sisters.
