Helen R. Tipton, 96, of Silvis passed away Feb. 18, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Moline.
Funeral services will be 1pm Friday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
Helen was born April 28, 1921 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Ernest and Clara Towsley. She married Frank Smith in 1937. He passed away in 1940. She later married Donald Tipton in 1942. He passed away in 1996. Helen retired from Oscar Meyer after 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, reading the Bible and listening to country music and oldies. She also loved all animals especially dogs.
Survivors include her daughter Donna Cross; son Arthur ( Gladys ) Smith; 5 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, son in law, and 2 husbands.
