Helene Childers

Helene Childers, 92, of Davenport, passed away Oct. 29, 2013, at Good Samaritan Center, Davenport. A memorial service will be at a later date in Florida. Memorials may be sent to K9Kindness Rescue of Davenport, k9kindnessrescue.org/Donate.php Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is assisting the family with arrangements. Helene was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Decatur, Ill., the daughter of John and Geraldine Gaddis Corey. She married Harold "Les" Childers in Decatur. He passed away in 2005. Helene worked as a legal secretary and later as a secretary at Firestone in Decatur. She volunteered for many years in Decatur and later at the Coral Door in Pompano Beach, Fla. Survivors include her daughter, Connie Elsea, Davenport; stepdaughters, Judy (Oz) Gosnell, Saybrook, Ill., and Zandra (Bill) Morris, Longwood, Fla.; grandchildren, DeWayne Elsea, Rhonda (Troy) Brunning and Rochelle Gross; six great-grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. - See more at: http://qconline.com/archives/qco/display.php?id=657928#sthash.DhAetWvN.dpuf
