James E. Coyle, 90, of Silvis passed away May 20, 2023 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10am Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7pm Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
James was born April 27, 1933 in Moline, IL the son of James H. and Ruth E. (Eastman) Coyle. He served in the National Guard during the Korean Conflict. James married Joan Schipper August 26, 1960 in Fulton, IL. She passed away August 3, 1995. He later married Sherry Tyler December 27, 1996 in Moline, IL. James was previously married to Janet Long in 1954 and together they had 4 children James, Perry, Sherry, and Lorraine.
James worked several jobs with his favorite being Dr. Pepper Bottling Company. He also worked for John Deere, retiring in 1993. James was a member of Legacy Baptist Church in Davenport and Korean War Veterans Quad Cities Chapter. He enjoyed collecting Dr. Pepper memorabilia and loved to travel.
Survivors include his children James S. (Heather) Coyle, Kelly A. (Jeff) Bowser, Rosemary M. (Jose) Moreno, Tena R. (Brad Franks) Hughes, and William Pepper (Terri) Coyle; Sherry’s children Wendy Petsel, Rusty Long, Jennifer (David) McCoy, and Erik (Sarah) Tillberg; 48 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, and sisters Pat Danner, Natalie Fagan, Kay Coyle, and Bonnie Reed.
