James L. Hernandez, 65, of East Moline, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis.
Memorial Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born Aug. 15, 1945, in Moline, son of Cecil L. and Virginia Lopez Hernandez. He married Bonnie Lindeman in 1964.
He enjoyed playing softball, football, pool, darts and picks. He was also an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include his children, James (Gina) Hernandez Jr., Moline, Cyndi (Lee) Hernandez Butler, St. Petersburg, Fla., Melissa Hernandez, Moline, and Robert Hernandez Gayle; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings,Cecil L. Hernandez Jr., St Charles, Ill., Adela (Jesse) Lopez Sr., Sterling, Daniel (Jeanine) Hernandez, Milan, Fred L. Hernandez, Moline, Louie L. Hernandez, Silvis, Linda (Dan) Stark, Shelby Township, Mich. And Rose (Armando Alvarado) Hernandez, Silvis. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Rita J. Hernandez.
