James "Jim" C. Scott

James "Jim" Carl Scott, 88, of Silvis, was called home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2024 when he passed away at Clarissa Cook Hospice House.

Born in Moline, Illinois, on May 17, 1936, Jim was one of four children to Effie Carlson and Jesse Scott. He grew up in Moline, Illinois, graduating from Moline High School in 1954.

James married Clevelyn "Cleve" Mary Rigdon April 2, 1966 at First Christian Church, Moline. He is the adored father of daughter, Tracee (Steven) Scott-Otis, son, Troy (Heather) Scott; Grandpa Jim to five grandchildren (Kelsey, Joshua (Stephanie), Elana, McKennah, Aleanah); and father of two older children, James K. Scott and Laurie (Chuck) York.

Jim spent nearly his entire career with International Harvester/Case IH ending as receiving supervisor until his retirement in 1991. He also had an early stint as a Spudnut donut shop entrepreneur and later shared his outgoing people skills as a part-time driver and document runner for local funeral homes.

Jim, an avid athlete, played many years of high school and college basketball and community softball as an adult. He transferred his skills to new players as a youth baseball and basketball coach. His volunteerism also included the Silvis Optimist Club and Scottish American Society where he and Cleve were members. Jim also enjoyed socializing, dancing and watching his favorite Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Bears.

In retirement with his cherished Cleve, Jim enjoyed many happy years of couple's golf weekends, adventures in Scotland, snowbird winters on Dauphin Island, Alabama and at their second home in Scottsdale, Arizona, and countless road trips for grandchildren's soccer matches.

Visitation for Jim will be Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 4pm-6pm at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, followed by a Wednesday, November 27 funeral at 10am at Faith Walk World Outreach Center, Silvis, followed by interment at Riverside Cemetery, Moline.

Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or American Cancer Society.
