James L. “Jocko” Vrban, 81, of Colona passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, May 23, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7pm Friday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Fund.
James was born November 15, 1944 in Moline, IL the son of Joe F. and Elinor Vrban. He married Carole Osbourne April 19, 1975 in Moline, IL. James served in the Army as a Sergeant E5 during the Vietnam Era. He retired as a welder from John Deere and was an Alderman for Green Rock for several years. James enjoyed fishing and coaching softball. He was a master handyman and could fix anything.
Survivors include his wife Carole; children Jerry Hill, Teresa Vrban, Brandi (Ron) Erickson, Cori (Brian) Rossmiller, and Stacie (Brock) Hatfield; grandchildren Nick, Jordan, Bo, Emilee, Maegen, Cody, Jacob, Gracie, Fynn, and Imogene; great grandchildren Jeremy, Evelynn, and Lillian.
James was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Katy, sister Carol, brother Mick, and a daughter-in-law Jane.
