Jean E. Rhone

Jean Ellen Rhone (Bartels), 75, passed away in her home surrounded by family on Monday, August 11th after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jean was born August 17th, 1949, to Ruth Ziegenhorn. She was then placed into the loving adoptive arms of Herman John and Mary Lucille Bartels.

Jean graduated from United Township High School, Moline Institute of Commerce, and Black Hawk College. She retired from Defense Finance and Accounting Services of the Rock Island Arsenal in 2005 after 30 years of service.

Jean married Terry Stufflebeam in 1968 and had two children, Tracey and Brad. She later remarried Bob Rhone in 1994, and they shared 31 years together full of endless love, traveling, and spending time with family.

Jean was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church during which time she served on the church council, finance committee, and as treasurer and auditor.

In her free time, Jean loved to spend time with her family, attend Quad City Mallards hockey games, go to yard sales, and go shopping. One of her favorite times was vacationing at the lakes of Minnesota on family fishing trips. Jean had a heart of gold, bringing love, laughter, and kindness to everyone she met.

Jean is survived by her husband, Robert Rhone; her brothers, Tom (Donna) Bartels, Donald (Zelma) Ziegenhorn, John Westguard; children, Tracey Robinson, Brad (Hope) Stufflebeam; grandchildren, Tami (Ricky) Duncan, Andrew Keefe, Brandon Stufflebeam, Jessica Robinson, Kirsten (Bryce) Thomas, Gabby Stufflebeam, Jace Jordan, Isabelle Jordan, Cayden Jordan, and 7 great grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Lucille, sister Valerie, and birth mother Ruth Ziegenhorn.

The visitation service will be held at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis on Sunday, August 17th from 2-4pm, and the funeral service will be held on Monday August 18th at 10am at Schroder Mortuary.
