Joette “Jody” VanDeWalle, 64, of Silvis, passed away Sept. 24, 2018, at her son’s home.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation two hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the family.
Jody was born Nov. 24, 1953, in Moline, the daughter of James A. and Margaret Crosser Long. She married Richard VanDeWalle on June 23, 2000, in Silvis. Jody worked for 20 years at St. Katherine’s Living Center before working another 20 years at Illini Hospital as a dietary aid, retiring in 2017. She enjoyed volunteering her time and coaching with the Special Olympics. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Austin.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; son, Beau (Lori) Price; daughter, Amanda (Alex) Betts; grandchildren, Austin Price, Margaret and Isabella Myers, Coltyn Heeney and Brody Betts; brothers, John (Peggy) Long, Jim (Sandy) Long and Ed (Lynn) Long.
Jody was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Geri Lynn.
