John W. Wassenhove

John W. Wassenhove, 83, of Silvis passed away Monday, April 27, 2026 at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in East Moline.

A memorial service will be 12:00pm Monday, May 4, 2026 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Inurnment will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family or Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center.

John was born July 11, 1942 in New York. He was the son of Albert and Elsie Wassenhove. He married Judy Catour in 1965. He later married Martina Ramirez in February of 1983. She passed away November 4, 2001. John retired from John Deere Harvester working on the assembly line for over 25 years. He loved animals, raised pigeons and had several pet birds. He also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his sons John (Peggy) Wassenhove, Mike (Ani) Wassenhove, Darin Wassenhove, Dianna Wassenhove, and Ed Villarreal; daughter in law Trudy Villarreal; grandchildren Chris, Justin, Daniel, Mariah, Alexia, and Gabriel; brother Gene Wassenhove and sister Patricia Wassenhove.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martina, stepson Al Villarreal, stepdaughter Angelica McKinney, and a sister Paulette.
