John Henry "Johnny" Wessell, 71, of Moline, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Johnny was born Aug. 24, 1939, in Lockport, Ill., the son of John and June Thompson Wessell. He married Rose Viscioni Aug. 1, 1976, in Moline.
He was the owner of Wessell Decorating and Painting. He enjoyed reading, golfing, fishing, doing puzzles, woodworking and having coffee with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; stepsons, Dennis (Denise) Anton Sr., Colona, Albert (Christine) Anton, Silvis, Leonard (Sheila) Anton, Carbon Cliff; stepdaughters, Cindy Dean, Moline, Mary (Tom) Bass, Florida, Betsy (David) Ferry, Florida; sister, Jackie (Tom) Short, Missouri; nieces, Tammy, Cathy and Dana; 12 stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Kathy.
