Joyce A. Nevins

Joyce A. Nevins, 91, of Carbon Cliff passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at her home.

Funeral services will be 1:30pm Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Silvis United Methodist Church with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or QC Animal Welfare Center.

Joyce was born May 18, 1934 in Pittsfield, IL the daughter of Warren and Mary Dinsmore Hoyt. She moved to Carbon Cliff at 3 weeks old and has lived there her whole life. She worked at the Silvis Drive In where she met her husband, Roger. Joyce married Roger D. Nevins December 14, 1951 in Carbon Cliff. He passed away November 10, 2022. Joyce worked for Royal Neighbors for several years. She was an active member at Silvis United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School, was a member of United Methodist Women, Rebecca’s Cloth, and served many funeral luncheons. She also enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include her son Larry (Cathy) Nevins; grandchildren Candi (Brandon) Buffington of TN, Cori Nevins of WI, Jenna (Ethan) Lardner of CA, and Ben Nevins of Rock Island; great grandchildren Ty, Lindsay, and Jordin.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Calvin, daughter in law Karen Nevins, and sister Dorothy Batten.

The family sends special thanks to the teams at Friendship Manor and more recently, Silver Cross and Heartland Hospice, for their love and care of Joyce during her time there.
