Larry was born in Salina, Kansas to Alice Mae Starmer and Stanley Allensworth on January 18, 1943. Larry attended Moline High School where he was active in Sports, such as Football and the Wrestling Team. It was during a Wrestling event where he met Arlene Vols and later married and had three children.

Larry followed in his father's footsteps and became a Local Union Painter for over 30 years. Larry was a Lifetime Member of Local 502 Painters Union. Larry started his career in the Quad Cities and later moved to Duncanville, Texas. One of his greatest painting designs was painting the Presidential Podium while he worked in Dallas, Texas. Eventually Larry moved back to Hampton, Illinois to care for his aging parents. Larry worked on many projects and was also involved with the Circa 21 interior painting. After his retirement he did do some Henry County mowing in Colona, Illinois.

Larry was a family man and believed in the value of spending time with his family. Larry loved to go camping and when he lived in Texas, spent many weekends at the Galveston Beach. Many of the memorable times for his children was on these camping trips. Larry worked very hard to provide for his wife and family and invested his time into his family. Larry believed in the values of being a husband and father and that the man provided for his family. Larry loved the outdoors and would have huge gardens. Larry enjoyed Trains, Tractors and Collecting these and other items.

Larry enjoyed playing Video games with his grandson and his friends. Though he sometimes did not play well with others, even his own Team knocking him out of the game, these were times of enjoyment and laughter with the younger generation.

Over his years, Larry had several dogs and had many dog stories, even about his neighbors' dogs in Colona, Illinois. Larry could tell a story about all of his neighbors' dogs and about the nature of the dog. Larry was well loved by the Colona Animal Health Center and he appreciated the love and care that they took with him and Scooter.

Larry is survived by his Daughter's Shari L. Ortner (Jeff), in Moline, Illinois and Michelle ”Toby” Pendleton (Todd) in Sparland, Illinois.
