LaVerne D. Schmidt, 72, of Colona passed away March 25, 2018 at his home.
Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Burial will be at New Boston Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
LaVerne was born May 11, 1945 in Walnut, IL the son of Adolph and Inez Hoffman Schmidt. He married Lisa Renner Oct. 25, 1991. She passed away Aug. 13, 2015. LaVerne was an auto body collision repair specialist for 48 years and the owner of LaVerne's Body Shop. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his children Lanette (Buddy) King and David (Heather) Schmidt; grandchildren Ryan (Teddra) Schmidt, Ashlee (Kristine) Fleming, Gage Schmidt, Rachel King and Emily King; great grandchildren Anna Noack, Bentlee Schmidt and Taelyn Schmidt; sister Phyllis Alford.
LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son LaVerne Jr.
