Lila A. Stout

Lila A. Stout, 92, of Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Bickford Cottage in Moline.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2025, at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Hillsdale United Methodist Church.

Lila was born at her family home on August 11, 1932, between Hillsdale and Geneseo, Illinois. She was the daughter of Walter and Viola (Seams) Kincaid. She graduated from Hillsdale High School. Lila married Duane Stout on July 12, 1953, in Hillsdale. They met at the Barn Dance Hall, where they danced the Jitterbug and continued to dance for years. They also loved to take weekend trips, play card and boardgames, and spend time with family and friends. Duane preceded her in death on October 16, 2006.

Lila worked at the Hillsdale Bank for over 40 years, where she was well loved by her customers. She took great pride in her work, and it was important to her to always have a balanced drawer. Lila was also a longtime member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and worked hard to avoid ever having a pig thrown in her front yard—a playful tradition within the group. Lila had a green thumb and loved her flowers and bird watching. She was a member of the Hillsdale United Methodist Church, and always looked forward to playing Rummikub at the Port Byron Methodist Church. Her family was her passion. She loved having her family over, especially for the holidays.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter Carolyn (Bobby) Ellis of East Moline, and her son Alan (Diana) Stout of Hillsdale; her grandchildren Ryan (Andrea) Ellis, Courtney (John) Mills, Chris Ellis, Aaron (Jane) Ellis, Marc (Leonna) Ellis, Brandon Ellis, and Jasmine Smith; many great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and her sister-in-law Barb Kincaid. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Lois Wells and brothers Dale, Leslie, and Bradley Kincaid.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bickford Cottage in Moline for their wonderful care shown to Lila and her family during her 3½-year stay, and to Heartland Hospice for their compassionate support.
