Lisa Boesen

June 10, 1967 — April 30, 2016

Lisa C. Boesen died peacefully on Saturday morning, April 30, 2016 at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa. Proving her strength until the very end, she fought her battle with cancer with courage, humor and grace. Lisa was born on June 10, 1967 in Rock Island, IL to Wayne F. Fick and Janice (Denhard) Fick. She was the youngest of three children. After her father's passing, her mother married Richard R. Visser, when Lisa was a young teenager, and Lisa took the name Visser. After graduating in 1985 from Geneseo High School, Lisa started off on her first adventure. She married Charles English in California in 1987. Together, they had two daughters, Lisa Katrina and Keri Lynn. Lisa returned to the Quad City area where she raised her children and enjoyed being near her family. Lisa worked for many years for Project Now and Bi-State Regional Commission in Rock Island, where she met Michael E. Boesen. The two were married in Cambridge, IL on August 18, 2009. Lisa has worked at Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island for the last 4 years. Lisa found joy in all that life had to offer. She could be found hugging and kissing her grandchildren for hours on end. She loved the calm that nature provided, while fishing with her husband, Mike. She was in awe of the beauty our country holds, traveling mile after mile in the cab of her husband's truck. She felt called to help those in need, especially in times of crisis. She spent several days in Joplin, Missouri with her husband after the devastating tornado. Lisa enjoyed relaxing at home, and many a good story could be told sitting around a fire on a Summer night. Lisa's faith gave her strength throughout her life, and she was thankful for her church, Faith Walk World Outreach Center. Services will be held 10am Friday at Faith Walk World Outreach Center 1450 Avenue of the Cities, Silvis. Private burial will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Faith Walk World Outreach Center. Schroder Mortuary in Silvis is assisting the family with arrangements. Those left to carry on her memory are her husband, Michael E Boesen (East Moline, IL), daughter Lisa English and grandsons Elijah and Quentin (Bettendorf, IA), daughter Keri English and granddaughter Blair (Cambridge, IL), parents Richard and Janice Visser (Silvis, IL), stepchildren Faith Heitman and Shawn Boesen and their families (Davenport, IA), sister Katherine Lucas (Geneseo, IL), brother Joseph Fick (Yokohama, Japan) and many more family members, that Lisa loved so very much. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the medical team and hospital staff at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City. Without their expert care, tender hearts and sincere love, this journey would have been even more difficult for Lisa.
