Maria DeLaCruz

Maria Silvina Juarez DeLaCruz, 74, of East Moline, passed away Jan. 17, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis. A Catholic Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline, with visitation one hour before service time. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is handling arrangements. Maria was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, the daughter of Catarino and Maria Cleofas Gomez Juarez. She married Carlos DeLaCruz in 1970. He passed away on Jan. 26, 1987. Maria was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline. She worked for the Ice Cream Palace in Silvis for 13 years. Maria was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, embroidery, sewing and her many pets. Maria is survived by her daughter, Silvia DeLaCruz Arce, East Moline; siblings, Ramona Ramos, Magdalena Juarez, Guadalupe Castro, Rosa, Jose Luz, Jose Luis and Jose Angel Juarez and Juana Gongora. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Carlos Jr.; parents; a sister, Hilaria Hernandez; her aunt, Clara Knox; and her best friend, Margarita Cantu.
