Marian L. Griffin, 92, of Silvis, passed away Feb. 10, 2017, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will be on the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Marian was born Sept. 9, 1924 in Moline, the daughter of Dewey and Grace Sheley Wendell. She married Roland D. Griffin Feb. 19, 1952, in Fayetteville, N.C. He passed away June 18, 2013.
Marian enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and gardening.
Survivors include her children, Nancy Vyncke, Roxann Griffin, Cheryl (Rod) Santee, Greg Griffin, Joyce (Donnie) Brower and Ruthann (Michael) Beamesderfer; grandchildren, Julie Vyncke, Debra Obmasik, Tracy Vyncke, Lisa Jenkins, Rich Nelson, Shelli Willemarck, Jeremy Johnson, Kyle Griffin, Mitchell Griffin, Bridgette Griffin, Nathanael Brower, Alexander Brower and Christopher Brower; and 16 great-grandchildren. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson; beloved son-in-law, Joe Vyncke; sisters; Gertrude Sergeant, Vera DeJaegher, Helen Beveridge and Doris Hubbard; and brothers, Bob Wendell and Howard Wendell.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Lighthouse and Hope Creek for the loving care given to Marian.
