Marie Nelsen

Marie Nelsen, 74, of East Moline passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Unity Point Health in Rock Island. 

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday at Crosstown Baptist Church in Silvis with visitation starting at 11:30am. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Colon Cancer Foundation. 

Marie was born January 9, 1950 in Parkin, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry H. and Irmal (Shelley) Young. She married David W. Derry who was a Vietnam Casualty and died March 22, 1968. She later married Mick Nelsen December 9, 1985 in Milan, IL. Marie enjoyed Facebook games, gospel music, crocheting and painting. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her friends. 

Survivors include her husband Mick; daughter Trina Mueller of Oregon, IL; Son Joseph (Dori) Nelsen of SanDiego, CA; grandchildren Mallory (Zac) Sanders, Marissa (Dan) Boebel, Nathan Brass, Tyler Nelsen, Hannah Gruszecka, Luke Nelsen, and Danielle Nelsen; great grandchildren Riley Sanders, Genevieve Boebel, and Juliette Boebel; brothers James Young of West Memphis, Arkansas and George W. (Martha) Young of Paragould, Arkansas and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Helen Watson and Grace Young and brothers Buddy Young and Harold Young.
