Mark R. Harper, 65, of Moline, Illinois died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Unity Point Rock Island.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior. A private burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be left for Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Schroder Mortuary Silvis is handling arrangements.
Mark Robert was born May 22, 1958 in Moline, Illinois a son of Laurel and Millye Carlson Harper. He was a 1976 graduate of Moline High School. On March 20, 1993 he married Margo Anderson in Moline. They were married until her passing on May 23, 2013. Mark was employed by Sunbeam/Kitchen Cooked for over 30 years, retiring in 2021. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, and enjoyed bowling and word searches in his free-time. Mark was a big supporter of the Moline Maroons basketball team, and could be found cheering them on at every home game. He was a devoted member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. After retirement, he took great pride in being able to provide security at the church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Brian (Betty) Harper, Geneseo, Jeff Harper, Moline, Steve (Connie) Harper, Colona, Laurie (Steve) Ebner, Rock Island, Scott (Kay) Harper, Atkinson, Marcia (Steve) Orendorff, Geneseo, Jason Harper, Geneseo, and Barry (Tracy) Harper, Milan; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant sister Pamela, niece, and great nephew.
