Martha Frels

Martha E. Frels, 87, of Barstow passed away Sept. 9, 2015 at her nephews home. Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7pm Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center or Unity Point Hospice. Martha was born Aug. 26, 1928 in Mannington, WV. She was adopted into the family of Forrest and Vera Griffin in Silvis, IL. She married Everett Frels April 18, 1966 in East Moline. Martha was a CUBS fan and enjoyed helping with yardwork, working with flowers, working in the kitchen, sewing, crocheting and her pets. She was active in the Barstow Fire Department and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband Everett; brother and sister in laws Robert Morris of Moline, Ted (June) Frels of Moline and Kenneth (Donna) Frels of Coal Valley; nephews and nieces Sheryl Jefferson of Mission, TX, Bill (Sandie) Morris of Moline, Teresa Connolly of Orlando, FL, Jean (Robert) Norton of East Moline, David (Cathy) Frels of Omaha, Steven (Valerie) Frels of Davenport, John (Monica) Frels of Libertyville, IA, Linda (Edward) Johnson of Aliso Viejo, CA, Dale (Bonnie) Frels of Barstow and Tom Morris of Moline; many great nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Betty G. Morris. The family would like to thank all the staff of Unity Point Hospice for the much needed help through this time.
