Marvin L. Swanson

Marvin L. Swanson, 87, of Orion passed away Friday September 4, 2026, at University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center in Iowa City.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Schroder Mortuary in Silvis is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City.

Marvin was born May 8, 1939 in Orion, IL. the son of Ivan and Evelyn (Seabloom) Swanson. He married Barbara Gravitt June 6, 1959. She passed away December 4, 2014. Marvin worked for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline as a supervisor and retired with 30 years of service. He also farmed for over 40 years, retiring in 2012. Marvin could fix anything and enjoyed buying houses and flipping them, restoring John Deere L tractors and El Caminos.

Marvin is survived by his children Lisa (Keith) Samuelson and Lynn Swanson; grandchildren Alex (Megan) Samuelson, Ann (Eric Shird) Samuelson; great granddaughter Alicia Samuelson; Sister in laws Marge (Jerry) Maddox and Sandy Metzner and several nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
