Mary Bein

Mary G. Bein, 85, of Silvis, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. As she wished, her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. She was born June 3, 1929, in LeClaire, to Robert W. and Agnes Bammer Fields. She married Gerald Bein on Dec. 21, 1948, in Silvis. He passed away Jan. 23, 1972. She worked at East Moline State Hospital in the nursing department for 20 years. She also worked in a children's home for 18 years in Moose Heart, Ill., as dean of girls. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Survivors include her children, Peggy (John) Arkland, East Moline, Zoa Jean (Paul) Mullen, St. Petersburg, Fla., Peter (Stephanie) Bein, Manitowoc, Wis., Thomas Bein, Alabama, Gerald Bein, California, Robi Connor, Texas; grandchildren, Harry Mullen, Justin Bein, Angie Orlik, Kelly Cotton, Trevor Bein and Alycia Bein; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Rob Mullen; and a brother, Robert Fields Jr.
