Nathaniel Sherrod

Nathaniel Sherrod, 56, of Rock Island, passed away at home on Aug. 13, 2014, with his wife at his side. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at The Word Church, 1925 5th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Nathaniel was born Nov. 24, 1957, in Louisville, Miss., the son of Walter and Gussie Ree Dismuke Sherrod. He married Renee Watson on Aug. 7, 1982, in Rock Island. Nathaniel was employed at John Deere Harvester. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Renee; children, Lakeesha Davis and Deondra (Rayterres) Mays, Rock Island, Stephanie Watson, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Steven Perry, Eau Claire, Wis.; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three godchildren and a sister Bernice Berry of Saginaw, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Walter Jr. and Travis.
