Oliver Fillman

Oliver F. Fillman, 86, of Colona, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island. Services will be noon Thursday, Jan. 3, at Christ Church of the Quad Cities, 403 3rd St., Colona. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time at the church. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. He was born June 24, 1926, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Frank E. and Mildred E. Kelso Fillman. He married Marjorie J. Sanborn Nov. 7, 1948, in Des Moines. She passed away Oct. 20, 2006. Oliver served in the Navy during World War II. He worked at RI Lines as a telegrapher and later worked and retired from HC Duke. He was a member of the Colona Legion Post 1233. He loved trains and singing in the choir. Survivors include his daughter, Sherrill Fillman, Des Moines; sons, Rex, Davenport, Keith, Colona, Dale, Colona; grandchildren, David, Kevin, Lori and her husband, Curtis Sturms, Lance, Emily, Elizabeth and Mathew Mosset; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Charles (Janet), Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his wife; and two brothers, Merwin and Russell.
