Phyllis Whitmore

Phyllis M. Whitmore, 84, of Moline, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. A service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Silvis United Methodist Church. Phyllis was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Fruitland, Iowa, to Harold J. and Helen Letts Hazlett. She married Calvin C. Whitmore on June 23, 1946, in Rock Island. Phyllis graduated from Rock Island High School in 1946. She retired from Deere and Co. as an accountant. Phyllis enjoyed reading, traveling, bowling and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Calvin; children, Steve (Alma) Whitmore, Albany, Bruce (Deborah) Whitmore, Port Byron, Barbara (Jerry) Bledsoe), Tuscon, Ariz., and Kevin (Pegggy) Whitmore, Albuquerque, N.M.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Finger, Canon City, Colo., and Mrs. Joseph (Janet) Mueck, Merritt Island, Fla.; brothers, Vernon (Margaret) Hazlett, Cordova, and Lester (Jane) Hazlett, Fargo, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Hazlett; and brother, Larry Hazlett.
