Robert Farnsworth

Robert Farnsworth, 80, of Colona, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Dayton Corners Cemetery in Colona. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Colona Fire Department. Robert was born Dec. 28, 1933, the son of Beryl and Thelma McGuire Farnsworth. He married Sandra Walker on Sept. 25, 1953, in Rock Island. She passed away Dec. 27, 2013. Robert retired from Alcoa in 1983 after 30 years as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and hunting. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Survivors include sons, Richard (Debbie) Farnsworth of Coal Valley, Kevin (Debbie) Farnsworth of Colona and Scott (Brenda) Farnsworth of Davenport; daughters, Michelle (Frank Wade) Burgess of Rock Island and Kim (Gary) Trickey of Colona; brother Neil (Jane) Farnsworth of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Bob Halley of Colona; 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, grandsons, Joshua and Jamie Waggoner, great-grandson, Tyler Farnsworth and a sister, Beverly Halley.
