Robert Metscaviz

Robert J. Metscaviz, 80, of Hillsdale, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at home. There will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded. He was born July 19, 1933, in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Olga Olson Metscaviz. He married Beverly Nute July 18, 1987, in Erie. Robert served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a machinist. Robert was a Cardinals fan, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time at his cabin on the river and loved his dogs. Survivors are wife, Beverly; children, Barbara (Roger) Brandt, of Port Byron, Janice (Steve) Rathburn, of Cordova, Lisa (Monte) Sonksen, of Bettendorf, and Steven (Monica) Metscaviz, of Geneseo; stepdaughter, Cari (Gilbert) McCormich, of Davenport; stepsons, Tony Flynn, of Davenport, and Patrick Flynn, of Quincy, Ill.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Lester (Janie) Metscaviz, of Kewanee. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Brett Flynn.
