Robert Michels

September 28, 1937 — June 21, 2017

Robert W. "Bobby" Michels, 79, of Colona, went to meet our Lord Jesus Christ on June 21, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving daughters after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Burial will be at Dayton Corners Cemetery in Colona. Memorials may be made to the family.

Bob was born Sept. 28, 1937, to John W. and Irene Michels in Spring Valley, Ill. He married Dorothy Ann Whittington Oct. 5, 1955, in Colona. She passed away July 9, 2011.

Bob worked in sales for Highland and Iowana Dairy's, Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake, Frito Lay and Walmart receiving many awards in highest achievement over the years. He was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed fishing with family and friends.

Those left to honor his memory are his children, Dennis, Brilliant, Ala., Cynthia (Don) Engel, Colona, Kathryn "Kate" Pulse, Colona, who was her father's guardian angel and caregiver, Patricia (Barry) Anderson, DeWitt, Iowa, and Robert "Craig" Michels, Muskego, Wis.; brother, Dick (Gail) Michels, Dubuque, Iowa; and his buddy, Chubby; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Bud and Plick; and a sister, Betty.

A special thank you to his granddaughter, Deidra Tatge, for the loving and compassionate care given to her grandfather which made his dream of living at home possible. Also to Becky, Ray and the Hospice family.
