Robert Ransom

Robert "Bob the joke man" Ransom Sr., 84, of East Moline, passed away on April 5, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Estates in Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Bob was born on March 16, 1929, in Versailles, Ill., the son of George and Marie Gillenwater Ransom. He graduated from Moline High School in 1948. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Bob married Joanne Sindt on Nov. 25, 1950, in Moline. He enjoyed archery, hunting, fishing, flying, bowling, leather crafting, photography and camping. Survivors include his wife, Joanne, of East Moline; daughter, Susan (Roger) Rockwell, of East Moline; son, Robert Ransom Jr., of East Moline; grandchildren, Gary Phelps, of East Moline, Brian Martinez, of Moline, Jeramie (Jennifer) Ransom, of Coal Valley, Jacob Ransom, of East Moline, and Tyler Rockwell, of East Moline; and six great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Lesley Martinez.
