Ruth A. Hess of Silvis passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Friday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Ruth was born in Bloomingdale, Ill., the daughter of John and Ida Schultz Tatge. She married William Hess Sr. Oct. 10, 1946, in East Moline. He passed away Oct. 21, 1996.
Ruth was a member of the East Moline VFW Auxiliary and Silvis FOE. She was also very active with events at the East Moline Legion.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Nelson) Hess-Sanders, East Moline, William E. (Gail) Hess Jr., Carbon Cliff, Judy (Rich) Nordholm, Silvis; grandchildren, Alyssa Sanders, Joseph (Michelle) Hess, Jacob (Shari) Hess, Chad (Amanda) Ford, Andrea (Paul) Henderson, Dusty (Tess) Abney and Kaylee Nordholm; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Shelangouski and Lee Boyden; brothers, Ralph Tatge and Edwin Tague; several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers, Howard and Donald Tatge.
