Socorro Marner

September 25, 1937 — February 13, 2011

Socorro Virginia Nache Marner, 73, of East Moline passed away Saturday - February 12, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus. Visitation will be 1-3pm and 4-7pm Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Rosary will be held at 4:30 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be 10:30am Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Silvis. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or the Quad City Kidney Center. Socorro, "Virg" was born Sept. 25, 1937 in Mineral, IL the daughter of Alejo and Sotera Reyes Nache. Socorro married Marshall Marner Nov. 1, 1982. She enjoyed her shipping clerk career at John Deere PDC retiring in 1997 after 21 years of service. She was the ultimate caregiver her entire life. She enjoyed dancing, floral arranging and dining out on Friday's with "the gang". Virginia was also an avid bowler and Cubs fan. She was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and was an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. Survivors include her children Tina Schmall of Moline, Andy (Dawn) Marner of Cleveland, IL, Marlena Gomez of Silvis; grandchildren Brandi Laird, Nicole Laird, Jacob Schmall, Emily Schmall, Candace Marner, Kevin(Andrea) Marner, Dylann Teager, Natali Gomez, Eliya Gomez, Joseph Gomez; great grandchildren Elijah Laird, Roman Hernandez and Holden Gooch; sister Manuela (Fidel) Bonilla of Silvis; brother Henry (Lydia) Nache of Silvis; special nieces Rita (Bill) Merrill of Cleveland, IL and Jean (Jim) Beard of Springfield, OH; and her diva dog Katie Marner. Socorro was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings Teddy, Savina, Elena, Helen, Mary, Tony and John.
